Seward to Palmer

Monday 7/31/2006

We had now gotten a good sample of Seward and got onto the road to Palmer. We basically have to back-track to Anchorage and then head east about 30-40 miles. I had hoped to enjoy the views a bit better as we went through the mountains from Seward to Anchorage, but it was not as great as when we drove down. Along the way, I spotted two bald eagles sitting in a tree by the water.

We took a brief pitstop shortly after this and then continued onwards to Anchorage, where we wanted to visit H2Oasis, an indoor water park. Now, it may seem crazy to head for an indoor water park right smack in the summer. However, none of the campgrounds we've been at for some time have had swimming pools and water in lakes, rivers and ocean have been far too cold for our taste. Isabella stayed behind in the trailer while Lilli, Erik, Karl, and I headed in.

After about 4 hours Lilli, Erik, Karl, and I returned back to their trailer and woke up Isabella. We ate a late lunch by the trailer and then got back on the road towards Palmer. The rest of the ride there was not too exciting. Isabella and Erik immediately wanted to go fishing when we arrived, while Karl wanted to stay in the trailer and watch some TV. Lilli and I went out to the edge of the campground and watched the views of the mountains towards Valdez. We did not stay up that long. Swimming in a pool like H2Oasis was exhausting and fun.

Hmm... not exactly a King Salmon, but it was fun!

Big Alaskan fish. Brian Platt better take a back seat to Erik after this catch. Is it a 2 oncer?
